As business owners, we need to expect the unexpected…

Not long ago, our team at Growbo woke up to a sudden drop in website traffic, all thanks to a surprise change in Google’s algorithm (especially with all their AI updates).

Instead of panicking, we used it as a catalyst to rethink how we approach growth and visibility—we’re going Omnichannel now. This way, we wouldn’t get caught off guard again, no matter how the digital landscape shifts.

In this article, I’ll share the practical approach we discovered for how to keep your business in the spotlight—without the stress of constant reinvention or getting lost in the social media shuffle.

Here’s what I’m going over with you today:

  • The #1 cited challenge across all businesses… (along with a deeper analysis of the problem)
  • How to implement a simple, 4-step repeatable “Marketing Flywheel” system into your business to drive awareness, lead-gen, and scale your results
  • Practical tips to delegate your marketing tasks so you can focus on growth, and avoid burnout risk (which is real).

In 2021, we hit $1.2 million in revenue, achieved multi-million dollar status thereafter, and more recently, we've hit a wall—which I'll be talking about here. I think you might be able to relate.

Creating daily videos (and now this article) helps me focus on hypergrowth, learn as fast as possible, and share with you exactly how to achieve it. Our goal is to hit $1 million in profit per month.

Along the way, I want to give you, dear reader, a real-world, relatable playbook of lessons, tactics, and strategies to help you achieve similar results for your business.

Google Algorithm Changes Cut Our Traffic

At the time of writing, sleep is a bit scarce for me, but I woke up with some clarity about the problem of social media marketing and how to solve our distribution problem. Like many businesses right now, we're facing a big drop in website traffic.

The main culprit? Google's algorithm changes and AI creeping into search results, leading to a decrease in visibility, clicks, and traffic. That means fewer leads for us, and probably for you too.

The Causes of Traffic Decline - Growbo

In hindsight, I can see the mistake: we were too reliant on Google as our biggest and most reliable source of traffic. No one saw AI coming as fast and as disruptive as it did.

We should have adapted faster. Now, we're working hard to invest in ads and social media, and we're still seeing what we can do to recapture some search traffic.

The Core Challenge: Getting Seen by Your Audience

The problem is simple: How do we create content that gets seen by our target audience? For us, that's business owners—agencies, professional services, SaaS companies, and others.

How do we get our message in front of them?

The following chart highlights that the number one challenge for small businesses is generating traffic and leads (63%), far outweighing other struggles like proving ROI (39%), securing budget (27%), or managing websites (25%).

This reinforces that visibility is the core issue most businesses face before any other problem can even be addressed.

Number One Challenge for Small Businesses - Growbo

If you're in a similar position, whether you're just starting out or more established, I'm about to share the simple strategic epiphany I had for solving this problem. Let's zoom out and avoid getting too tactical or platform-focused.

It's so easy to get caught up in the minutiae—better thumbnails, better titles, better hooks. Yes, those matter.

But what's the bigger picture? Do you want to just copy what others are doing, or do you want to fundamentally understand the problem and how to solve it across any platform?

Sales Require Awareness First

Whatever you want as a business, you need to sell. To sell, you have a sales funnel—web pages, emails, ads, social media posts.

Even if you're a startup with just a one-page website, that's your funnel. Even if you don't have a website and you're just making phone calls, you are the funnel.

The goal is to get people who can benefit from your product to the bottom of that funnel, where some percentage will decide to buy. But this won't happen if people don't first know you exist.

Foundational to any activity in your marketing funnel is that your target market knows you're alive.

The illustration that follows highlights the Top of Funnel (TOFU) stage—Awareness—as the real battlefront of marketing. Without awareness, nothing else matters.

Before consideration or decision can happen, your audience must first know you exist. This stage is where you establish your brand as a thought leader and capture attention in a noisy market, making it the single most important step in your funnel.

The Question is: How to Build Visibility Without Tactics…

So, how do you drive awareness? How do you get visibility?

How do you get a little attention and say, "Hello world, I exist. Got a business over here. Maybe I have something you want, but first—you need to know I exist."

You might say, "Well, you need to post, or SEO optimize, or run ads, or A/B test." Wrong.

That's still too tactical. We want to deconstruct the problem at a higher level so our solution is platform-agnostic.

The Marketing Flywheel for Learning

You need a method for learning how to drive awareness—what I call a flywheel for learning. Basically, a system where you put in some input and get an output, which gives you data to learn from.

Then you apply that learning. Here's how I've started building this flywheel at Growbo, specifically for social media:

Make Something: Create a video, article, or post. Just make something.

Publish It: You or someone on your team hits publish. Obvious, but necessary.

Observe and Reflect: Watch the data come in. How many impressions did it get? Click rate? View time?

Did people like it, subscribe, or join your email list?

Repeat: Take what you learned, even if it's just "this topic or format didn't work," and go back to step one. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

The Content Flywheel - Growbo

Even if the data you get back is minimal, you're still learning. Maybe 800 people saw your YouTube thumbnail and title, but the click rate was less than half a percent.

Go back, rewatch, and analyze—was it the hook, the thumbnail, the length, or something else? Over time, you'll develop empathy for your audience and learn what works.

Consistency Trumps Polish

Content you put out may not hit right away. Sometimes it takes weeks or months for a piece to take off.

The key is to keep going. Don't stop.

Just commit to doing it for three days to break the mold and build the habit.

Don't immediately rely on AI to do everything for you. Millions are doing that and getting no results.

Solve the problem yourself first, then maybe start to outsource pieces to AI.

Why Real Content Outperforms Stock

Publishing can be more challenging than it seems, especially if you want to refine your content. I've seen creators just hit record and publish without any editing, and for some markets, that works.

Authenticity often beats polish—real photos convert better than stock images. People want to connect with real people, not commercialized content.

Authenticity Matters Most to Millenials - Growbo

For us, we're striking a balance between unedited authenticity and a little polish. We want to differentiate from someone just shooting on their phone, but ultimately, it's about the substance.

Do you help people solve their problems? That's what matters most in the long run.

Speed Up Your Learning Cycle

Here's the secret ingredient: To achieve hypergrowth, shorten the time between cycles of your marketing flywheel. Instead of turning the flywheel once per week, do it five or ten times.

Why? Not just for more results, but because the faster you turn the flywheel, the faster you learn what works and what doesn't.

With more volume, you get more data, more quickly. The probability of a certain piece of content taking off increases.

Maybe your audience doesn't care about thumbnail quality, but the hook on the title makes all the difference. These are critical lessons you can only learn by doing.

Once you can predict what will hit, doing more multiplies your results. The compounding effect kicks in, and growth accelerates.

Fast Execution Beats Perfect Timing

I came up with a phrase to help you remember this: "They might say time is on your side, but much more so if speed is your ride."

Compounding growth happens with consistency, but if you increase the speed—turning the flywheel more often—you'll accelerate your learning and your results. Don't let perfectionism slow you down.

Max out your volume early on. It doesn't have to be perfect; you'll get better over time.

Delegate to Scale Your Marketing

I'm grateful I can delegate so much of this work to my team on the Growbo platform. I created Growbo to solve my own problem: as a founder, it was hard to execute everything myself.

Even hiring and managing a team was stressful and unreliable.

With Growbo, you get an instant marketing fulfillment team with 13 skill sets included—for less than the cost of one full-time virtual assistant. We only hire the top 1% of applicants and train them, so you never have to worry about hiring, management headaches, or bad attitudes.

Just delegate your marketing and watch your projects and tasks come to life. Turnaround times are fast, with quality checks built right in.

Growbo helps you build your marketing flywheel so you can focus on growth. After serving thousands of clients worldwide, you can try it for your business for 14 days, risk-free.

Don't just consume information—do something with it.
